BIAS CUT SILK BRIDAL GOWN WITH LACE VEIL AND TULLE GLOVES

JESS

A gown like Jess’s is one of the most challenging. The impact of simplicity is only achieved if silk isn’t interrupted by a fold in the wrong place or the drape of the silk off by a centimetre. Jess’s gown was crafted in the finest silk, even the lining is in the pure silk so everything just falls like liquid.

The silk is cut in a way so it wraps around her body, and hints at her shape without being ‘tight’. The nature of this advanced draping technique means the seams are literally hand sewn on jess. Using a sewing machine is too harsh on the delicate balance of silk and silhouette.

The veil was inspired by a pre-wedding holiday to Europe. I hand-sewed French Chantilly lace around the crown of her veil, melting down around her shoulder.
